Ordered this on tap at my local ale house and was skeptical of the turbid appearance. Once assured that it was the correct look, the appraisal begins. It is a cloudy one, borderline murky, with a small off white head and decent lacing. The name did not distinguish it as a NEIPA, nor did I enter it as such (because of the rye), but many of the other traits of the style are there.
Moving on from the appearance, the earthy aroma offered up a mixed bag; some pine, some citrus, a bit floral with a whiff of tropical fruit. Not too bad, just not focused. Rye had more of an impact on the palate where it was sharper and stood out from the fruitier hops in the background. Medium bodied mouthfeel with good carbonation. Overall, an interesting pairing of a hazy IPA with a rye focused American IPA.
