Went To the Cascade Station location and the Downtown location right after they took over from Fat Heads Brewery. Don't remember too much about the Downtown Location other than it was nice. The Cascade Station was a disaster. Poor Quality and only decent service considering there were only 6 other people in the place, and they had already been served. They Just opened a new location in North Portland in the old Ecliptic Brewing building. I hear they closed Cascade Station location. Maybe things are getting better. I've had more of their beers than I have listed but don't remember which ones.

Popped in here after Backwoods, and it was quite a wonderful experience. Located downtown in West Portland, big spacious beerhall inside. Long bar runs the length of the place, tons of tables. Service was fast and friendly, beers were all well above average. Music soundtrack added to my enjoyment. Each beer was a real treat. Would definitely visit again.

This is a very spacious establishment, with lots of natural light and a fully electronic system of ordering your drinks and food. Delicious brewers and tasty food.

Stopped in for dinner and a couple beers. Pretty big space, high arched roof with exposed wood arch spans. Big bar that seats maybe 20 people and then a ton of tables around the space. Windows through to the brewing tanks. Great variety of styles, over 20 beers on tap - lagers, ales, stouts, some bottles of sour aged stuff. Food menu is barbecue based. My brisket sandwich was good.

Been here previously when it was Fatheads.

Vibe - in the Pearl. Got that city vibe. A buzz if you will. This place is huge. Getting in shouldn’t be a problem. A live band was also playing. Not the place to go if you want silence to contemplate your beer and jot some tasting notes.

Quality - So, to be honest I was there for one thing. Volatile Substance. It didn’t disappoint.

Service - efficient. Ordered from the bar.

Selection - 15 beers or so. Seemed like six of them were pilsners of some variety. Which was a little surprising. Our Uber said get their Pilsner. Just won award. Ok. Get there. Dang what Pilsner you think? Ha. Fatheads seemed to have more selections and variety. Could very well be I came at bad time for this?

Food - Did not eat. A lot to offer. Just like when it was fatheads. Also, has a kid’s meal that is a positive for me.

Had a great stop in while my wife was doing other shopping. Megan at the bar was great and enjoyed several good IPAs. Keep up the good work!

In the heart of downtown. Big rooms with painted matte black, Scandinavian style bar, tables and chairs with a tall ceiling. Popular and has a few tap tenders to keep the lines moving. These folks have some neato beer styles, such as French Pilsner and smoked lager. Both of these aformentioned beers were beyond good, so I suppose the rest would be tasty.

Very large, used to be a mainline steakhouse, so it’s a true restaurant experience. Comfy tables and booths around a warm fireplace. Service fast and friendly, beer selection is good (second of two breweries in the Zportland area).

Loved the service. What a pleasant contrast to my first stop. This is the old Portland branch of Fat Heads. Branding is far more subdued now. Everyone I spoke with was incredibly friendly and open. I had a nice meal, and just an incredible experience here.

I get to Portland for work a few times a year. I have some real favorites among the many great spots in Portland, but I always try to get to at least one new place each visit. My new spot on this trip was the Von Ebert Brewery.

When we pulled-up, at first glance I thought my Uber driver had taken me to Deschutes, to me they look very similar from the outside. It took me a minute to realize it was the Old Fat Heads space. So, my sense of Déjà vu was kind of justified.

As you enter, there is a large rectangular room with multiple seating options including long group tables. The long bar is against the back wall. I really liked the curved ceiling with the exposed woodwork. There are wood barrels on display and a good amount of TVs with the sound turned down.

Our server was spot-on. He gave good recommendations on the food and beers and did give us a sample of BA barley wine. No complaints at all.

I had a couple of their German style pilsners and thought they were very good. I then had their rye and finished the night with a couple of their American stouts. Everything was very good. My co-workers also like their hazy IPA and Schwartz beer.

Food was very good. We started with a large order of their wings. We got the dry rub version but our waiter brought out all the sauces so we could try them. Our party enjoyed their burgers, chicken sandwiches and the smoked turkey. Fries and onion rings were very good.

I will have no problem making a return trip as I think Von Ebert is doing just about everything right.
