Not sure how often this one is released, but it's the first time I've seen it available. Described by the waiter as "a light American porter with a heavy coffee veneer." I guess he's not too far off.
Pours a deep reddish/light brownish color topped by a fairly small, tan head. Appearance is really more that of an American red ale than a porter. Nose is tangy caramel malt with a hint of coffee. Palate is caramel and dark malts with a light roasty character up front, followed by a strong mocha character on the finish that lasts for a good long while. It's a little disconcerting on the first couple of sips, but I came around to this beer after I had a bit more. Body is a bit thin for a porter, but appropriate for this particular beer. Can't say I'm a huge fan, but then again, I don't drink coffee. An interesting offering.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
