First, this beer was served in an ice cold glass and not the best IMO for a Dunkelweizen. I let it warm before finishing to make sure I got the full flavor.
The pour was nice with a thick creamy head, but the disappeared after a few minutes. It was dark amber, not really dark and cloudy.
The aroma wasn't really evident, even after tasting it was hard for me to pick out any malt or hop aroma...very faint.
Taste was clean and more In line with a standard Dunkle. There was not a lot of wheat beer flavor or mouthfeel.
Overall this is a good drinking beer, but could use some body and roast flavor.

On tap at Cannon Brew Pub, 10/18/10.
Appearance: Arrives a surprisingly light but still stylistically accurate and thoroughly hazed, dirty, brownish blonde. The beer's absolutely opaque, but arrives with a nice finger of dull tawny head with decent staying power that sprays some nice lacing around the sides of the glass.
Aroma: Well that's odd. Two notes that stand out immediately are a pretty strong tart apple note that's a little off putting (though it is masked somewhat by a heavy banana presence), as well as a deep toasty note, almost espresso-like at points, sort of like bananas flambe that's been flambe-ed in to oblivion. The rest of the notes - slight spiciness, dark wheat notes, etc. - are all there, but those other two are a little out of place.
Taste: More of the above. That same odd tart apple note is a little more prominent here, merging with the sweet, mildly roasted base malts (caramel) to suggest rotten caramel apples, actually. And the overly toasted note just seems out of place, like it's hovering just above the surface of the other flavors, lightly charred, very earthy. It's less distracting here than it was in the nose, though, and does actually augment a few of the flavors present here. The remainder - ripe banana but also green fruit notes, a few spicy overtones, a definite strong nuttiness that almost comes across like nut butter at places - is pleasant, without being outstanding.
Mouthfeel: Another nicely done mouthfeel. Soft, smooth, lightly carbonated, but not heavy or thick or sticky, this one does the flavors here more justice than the previous few I've tried.
Drinkability: The best Cannon Pub beer I've tried thus far, this one manages to push the boundaries of the style just a little. Even though I can't say I love what they've done with the place, I can say I appreciated the attempt and found the beer interesting and thought-provoking. Would probably try this one again.
