Bomber I picked up at the Thriftway in Vashon.
Really dark for a hefe, with a murky amber brown color and very little head. Looks more like a scotch ale.
Smell is lightly spicy with some fruity yeast undertones. Some sharper high-nose elements drift in on a deep inhale.
Taste is okay. Some of those yeasty spice and banana characters come through, but they fall out really quickly, leaving a bland emptiness. Cloves come through very late, leaving a nice aftertaste.
Feel just barely gets my hopes up with a few tingles before it falls flat. Sort of slick, lacking carbonation, and as a result much heavier than I want a hefe to be.
I'm on the hunt for good local hefeweizens, but this one doesn't meet my standards. Smell is decent, everything else lets me down.
