Volpe Italian Pilsner is a vibrant old world Pilsner with a zesty depth that comes from a generous dry-hopping of Spalter Select, Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Saphir. Initially clean, crystalline and herbal, Volpe’s palate gives way to lovely floral and citrus notes matched to a malt backbone of golden honeyed hay and bread crust. Lingering aromas of lemongrass and a hoppy fresh afterglow make Vople a beautifully dynamic Pilsner. IBU: 30

Light gold pour, touch haze, steady carbonation that creates a strong white head. Nose shows Pils and sweet herbs.
Taste shares Pils, honey, herbs, wet hay, Meyer lemon. Mouthfeel is light and zesty. Finish sees bittersweet citrus with some length.
A really nice take on the Italian Pils style.

my first from these guys, never even heard of them before, listed as a new york operation, but the can says missouri, is this another one of those marketing companies dressing up as a brewery just contracting their stuff all over? the beer seems too good for that, i really really dug this, should probably judge it just on the merits of the liquid, not through the lens of all thats wrong with craft beer right now, and the liquid is fire, it cannot be denied, one of the better takes on this emergent style that i have had so far, very impressive, not sure how much of the quality is a product of it being produced by urban chestnut, who rules. blonde and bright looking, clear and bubbly, holding an inch of tightly packed white bubbles the whole time it takes me to drink this, which admittedly isnt very long, its refreshing and almost addicting, and it goes quick for me. the aroma is a little understated, clean, slightly brassy, mineral forward, nice and fresh, with obvious well lagered character, a heap of noble hops but not super bitter, and a nice fresh pils malt profile thats also quite distinctive, but all of this is ramped up even more in the flavor and the balance is elite. the hops are awesome, spicy, floral, and verdant, springy and clean with consistent bitterness through it and not overdone, no real late crescendo or anything, and there is lots of flavor room left over for this yeast which is clean but old worldy and full of character, and this malt, which is lovely in here, not at all sweet. frothy feeling beer with high almost can conditioned effervescence, flavorful but then gone overall, refreshing, quenching, and highly refined. i could drink this almost infinitely, killer proportions and very unique from the crowd i reckon, which has me intrigued about this company, but ill be on the hunt for more of this, ended up with a spendy single but i wish i had a fridge full...
