a rye ipa here singularly hopped with mosaic, and the better of the two beers i had while i was in here yesterday. its got a great color to it, a shiny and perfectly clear brass hue and a short but lasting white head, nice carbonation, mellow mouthfeel, smooth and medium, round and soft, very well put together and refined. the aroma shows quite a bit of pale rye malt in this, its earthy spiciness full and big here but balanced well by a pinch of lighter crystal malt that adds a flash of honey sweetness to the middle as well as some body, but is dried out by the finish. the mosaic works well with the rye, both are bold and distinctive, but they are quite compatible as well, lemony and grassy and even papaya and mango notes to the mosaic in this context, less of its occasional cat pee thing, clean and fresh in here, with very little bitterness at all. earthy before its hoppy which is uncommon in ipa and also for mosaic hops specifically, but i dig it. i like this being a little different and as fresh as it is. a simple but well made beer that i could happily drink all afternoon. looking forward to watching these guys evolve...
