Beer poured in a small snifter at the brewery. Arrives a rich, clear dark cocoa color with frothy tan head of about 1 cm. This foam fades and remains as an edge layer throughout the sampling.
Aroma is some dark chcoolate mixing with nutty notes, more husk or shell than a peanut butter note. Seems more authentic than some PB beers Ive had based on the nose.
No hop character that I can detect at this point.
First sip reveals a velvety smooth creamy texture with medium body. Fine and gentle carbonation adds to the soft mouthfeel on this beer.
Flavor starts with some sweet chocolate then some roast notes and a good hit of peanut butter on the finish.
This peanut butter is also fairly sweet and I again dont get hops anywhere. The booze is well hidden and the beer drinks pretty easy. I liked this beer but dont think Id have more than 2 of them, which is why I passed on getting a growler to bring home.
A solid peanut butter beer for sure, glad to have made the trek to sample.
