As Spring fades to Summer, these warm days have us wanting a superbly drinkable, yet abundantly flavorful IPA. Fugu is Inspired by beach days on the Connecticut coast, a perfect wooded New England hike, and catching just the right wave right after sunrise. Immensely aromatic and complexly hoppy for its crushable nature, Fugu combines a carefully selected combination of American hops. Flavors of earthy citrus, papaya, grapefruit, and a subtle note of watermelon all swirl on the pallet with a finishing pop of appropriate bitterness.

Poured into a Prairie Ales snifter to the second line, it formed a frothy head that took its time going down, leaving good lacing.
There was an orange peel scent with white grapes.
It had a hoppy grapefruit flavor with a clean finish.

Can purchased and drank at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a fairly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like melon, pineapple, candied lemon, pine, and grapefruit.

This is real solid, with a candied hop character, and a very soft bitterness. It’s well balanced overall.

This is soft and super drinkable, with a smooth finish.

I’ve liked the couple of beers that I’ve had from Tox a lot.

White cloudiness to the straw colored beer. Moderate sized head which remains throughout the tasting. Lumpy recession. Wide streaks throughout.

Beautiful citrusy floral hop aroma. Lightly grassy with a white pepper bite.

Creamy body with a slightly oily pale malt flavor. Fuller bodied with an average carbonation level. The hops are closer to black pepper culminating at the swallow and leaving a long, long aftertaste.

From a 16 oz can dated June 2022. Sampled Oct 2, 2022.

Opaque hazy golden yellow under a foamy white head.

Bready malts with citrus, orange and tropical hops.

Medium mouthfeel

This is an older can so it's sweet, citrusy sensations taste a bit stale. So. OK.

Greeting summer head on, the Tox brewing team invites warmer weather with a taste of tropics, an aroma of citrus crops and a bevy of orchard fruit. There's nothing toxic at all about this puffer of a beer.

Pouring golden-orange-taupe and cast in a largely matte finish, Fugu levels off with a creamy off-white crown. As a radiant perfume wafts about the nose, the fields of fruit come to life. Herbal hints ebb and flow through the fruit while its first sip is smooth with cereal, vanilla, pastry and honey sweetness.

The malty sweetness of its upstart is followed by a burst of citrusy tangerine, lime and pink grapefruit, then a tropical taste of mango, papaya, passionfruit and pineapple, and finally in a juicier melon-like roundness for a full complement of fruit cocktail. Finishing, though, quite dry, the late taste is largely framed by fruit peels, herb, peppery grasses, hemp and spruce.

Medium bodied although starting fuller, the beer shows remarkable drying power as it nears finish. Tightening into a succinct, bitter and refreshing finish, the ale extends with flavors of tea, hemp, herb and peppery pine in a medium-long aftertaste.
