It's just another in the new age IPA. Obviously lacking barley malt in the wort, with some sort of oat and/or wheat substitution. This is so typical; the stark white foam, instead of a proper beer head and the dense and dull apricot-amber color. Of course, the foam recedes quickly, unevenly, unattractively and with spotty glass lacing. Why has this mess become the standard AIPA? After a pause, a pint can's contents finally fit inside a clear glass liter mug. The aroma is nothing special. There's some piney hoppiness and little else. Probably thanks to the oats in the wort, this goes down softly. But a reliance on oats to carry the body can sometimes make the overall feel a little chalky, as it does here. This is never too sweet and never too bitter. It's like an oatmeal breakfast, bland and inoffensive. But, that's not why most craft beer lovers drink it. Without any taste transition, from front to back, this is just boring to drink. With all the starching, it doesn't even give the drinker a chance to isolate the Citra hop taste for definition.
