this is elite beer, one of the best drinks i had on my entire trip out east, a bold strong english style porter done with local wildflower honey, and it works on so many levels, everything about this is intelligent and dialed in. matte black and frothy tan headed, looks absolutely immaculate in the glass, love the carbonation activity and churned up head, i like the smoothness it has, and its appropriately a little more viscous than a standard porter. its built from specialty dark grains and english malts, and its obvious, bready with dry cocoa notes, oats evident too, and there is very little sweetness in it, even with all the malt and the honey, which is awesome, yet the full character of both is on display anyway, technical excellence. in aroma and flavor i get crusty dark bread loaves, just baked, i get light toffee and biscuit, i get baking chocolate, smoldering wood, and even a black tea note, nice depth here, good freshness, neat cereal layers, roasty without being too intense there, just an awesome build for this, and no sign of any alcohol either, creamy and smooth feeling with good carbonation, uniquely dry for what it is. the honey part is super cool too, its floral and springy in the nose, compatible with but also a cool contrast to the malt, definite blooming character, pollen, all of that, waxy and raw and sticky, but not heavy or sugary somehow, and it does cool things with the oats in this. its present the whole way, strongest on the swallow, works so good with the dark malt too, it is beautifully well incorporated. this is silk to drink, and its just genius. my favorite beer i had in here, and really about as good as it gets in this style space. they should be proud of this one, what a gem!
