wasn't sure what to expect from a "mexican strong ale", but upon opening the can I did not detect anything that links the luchador to mexican brewing other than the masked character on the label. poured opaque amber with a thin, white head. nose is all cloying banana/clove weizen style yeast, with unpleasant notes of acetone underlying. the beer tastes sweet, with more banana across the tongue, and feels surprisingly thin for a 7% brew. reminds me of a homebrew hybrid hefeweizen that had too high a gravity. carbonation is on the lower side, lending little to support the booziness of the beer. faint hint of something metallic on the finish. not a cheap product either, and i would not order again. the packaging is the best part, with both an eye catching logo and the underutilized extra wide can top.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
