1st review of this beer on BA. Had this during Sacramento Beer Week (Sac) 2019.
Pours brown, of the dark variety, off white pale beige head 1/2" from the tap. Nose of diner coffee, chocolate malt, hint of smoke.
Taste employs the same coffee, chocolate combo, with a hint of residual sweetness, super mild hint of coconut and smoke still. Roasted malt is in the good but not excessive range, mild bitterness on the backend that is appropriate. I think this is a good beer to pair with their heavier meats. Possible mild inclusion of vanilla, that might be what I'm calling coconut, tough to discern, which is nice, that whatever it is, its mild.
Appreciate the mouth feel here, its not a massive sticky sludge fest. Solid minimal if any adjunct kind of beer, excellent for pairing with brisket. Brewery showing some range with this one. Upset I didn't visit when I was in Sac this last weekend, too many vegans in our crew!
