Another Urban Roots beer reviewed for the first time here, was also from our February trip over the mountain. This is their single hop Strata beer.
Pours out a dark gold to super light amber color. Usually I prefer my single hops to have a little less malt to them to better showcase the hop itself. Thankfully, there's been an uptick in the amount of Strata stuff over the last year so I think I have a backdrop of a dozen or so to compare. Aroma is nice, similar to CTZ with its C hop woodiness, bitterness and weed like notes. But wait, there's more! Definitely kicks around some tropical notes as well.
Taste is easy going and keeps dropping Strata gems in terms of flavor, some stone fruit even coming in. Color of the beer makes it seem maltier than it comes across in the mouth feel. Its a solid banger. The bitterness is solid, this is a versatile two way hop you can use for aroma and bittering. Interesting stuff, would totally buy a 4 pack if they can it up.
