Had this in February 2019 at the source. Pours a familiar golden and dark yellow color with professional grade clarity. 1/3" white head on top. Looks good. Aroma knocked around some typical tropical and citrus fruit notes along with a tree and grass kind of push.
In the taste, there is just a smidge more malt than they're doing down the road at Fieldwork, but it never comes across as hefty or overly sticky. It keeps pushing what I believe might be a Citra/Mosaic/Amarillo combo in terms of taste. Citrus, light dank tropical fruit and a little bit of grass cuttings from a few days ago. Body comes close to being described as dry, but the pale toasted malt body grounds it before that. Carbonation was fine. its another beer that pairs well with their food. Whereas their ipa is rated similarly, I prefer it because it stands apart, whereas everyone and their brother in the Sac area is making very good to world class ipas. This one is pretty good for sure.
