What happens more often? To die in a dream, or actually living through one? I mean, really, have you ever gone ‘splat’ while in slumber? More so, have you had that true moment where you woke up, looked in the mirror, and knew that you saw your end? Either way, Geeks has me in another state. Not of perpetual wonder, or something morbid, but just somewhere ‘different.’ Somewhere ‘not here right now.’ And I’ll take it.

Very dark tawny brown with long-lasting dark beige foam in the big Stout glass. Lush mouthfeel and creamy carbonation. Grainy aroma with a cereal and hoppy nose. Bountiful roasted malt flavors with dark grain and a hint of chocolate. Burnt sugar finish.

Moderate bitterness, in fact just right to go with the malt. This is a nice surprise, and I would have one of these big Porters more often if they were this good. Warm and rich, with nice balance of the varied flavors and sensations. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. Dated 01/06/22.

Very good head production, nice retention, and excellent lacing. Body pours a dark black, silky stout-like color, but settled in the glass, you can see it has a cola-like transparency at the top.

The nose brings to mind one word: robust, as in what you'd expect from a robust porter - but by no means out of place for a Baltic porter. Quite toasty, but very smooth and balanced, with hints of cream and red grape to go along with toffee, coffee, and toast.

Very similar delivery on the palate. There's a bit of dark fruit, some brown sugar, toffee, cream, caramel, and dark bread. Minor toasty char on the back third. Drinks very clean and finishes semi-dry, really cleaning the palate for the next sip. Creamy medium to light-full body.
