i like how natural the watermelon is in this. thats really its best feature, and for how many watermelon beers there seem to be out there these days, most of them taste artificial or candy-like, but not this one, it has that juicy fleshy distinctive real watermelon freshness, especially in the aroma. the gose itself is pretty solid, not as clean as i like it, still a little sweet from the fruit, but thats really the only critique here, not as refreshing as it could be because of that, but the tartness is there without it being too acidic, i think the fruit helps with that too, and the salt is mild but enhances the watermelon nicely. the proportions are good here, especially if you like a lot of fruit in your gose, which i generally dont, but they got that part of this right. the lacto side of things could be a little more tidy, just a little sweatiness to it, but overall this is quite drinkable and good. very summery, something i want to drink on the fourth of july. also my first beer from devil wind, who appears to be pretty new. this is ambitious and rather well done for an operation still getting started. nice use of the watermelon here, better than most.
