All the best adventures start/end in taverns, so we made a beer for those occasions. It pairs perfect with so many types of pub food with its rich body and touch of rye malt.

Sampling a lightly chilled 16 oz can poured into a stemless wine glass. Beer was purchased at a shop in Calgary. Date stamp says 4/14/25.
The beer pours a light tea brown color and rests slightly darker in the glass, with some ruby highlights when I hold to a light source.
Large spongey and creamy head foams up with gentle pour and is easily 5 cm in the glass. I cannot get the entire can in on the first pour. This foam slowly fades to a very sturdy surface covering and leaves scattered lattice on the glass.
Aroma is some light chocolate notes with chalky mineral hits and some earthy hops. Overall a very mild nose on this beer.
No hint of any ABV.
First sip reveals a light to medium body and small gentle carbonation.
The flavor is similar to the nose and is also fairly mild. There is some dry cocoa powder and again chalky mineral notes with hints of earthy hops. Hints of sweeter malt come through on the finish. Never any ABV hints.
This beer is a little underwhelming and while, it isnt really flawed it certainly isnt memorable either.
Glad to have tried it, but generally disappointed with this one.

Hazy amber with a loose, soapy head and cap. Caramel malt nose. Medium malt body, on the thinner side. Smooth feel. More of an amber pub ale than a brown ale.

It Always Starts in a Tavern pours into my glass crystal clear and a deep, leathery brown color. The head is dense, tan in color, and lasting.
On the nose, rich aromas of malt lead the charge. Up front I get notes of deep, rich caramel combined with hints of nuts. Nuts lead into a center where I find aromas of damp earth combined with hints of tobacco. This may be my imagination but I smell just a hint of something that could be dates. All of this leads into a finish that is short and gentle in its dryness.
Taking a sip shows me an ale that is smooth and rounded up front. As with the nose I find rich flavors of caramel only this time it seems to be paired with something like cocoa powder. The flavors take a turn towards leather and tobacco in the center. As with the nose I taste something reminding me of dates before things move into a finish that is dry and lasting.
It's smooth, rich, flavorful, and decently balanced. It Always Starts in a Tavern reminds me of a very solid English style brown ale. I would go so far as to say that if you can't find an "authentic" brown ale from England, this would be a good substitute.
