This bock pours a beautiful dark mahogany and forms a rich 1-inch, off-white which quickly settled into a 1/8 inch head. The nose provides suggestions of rich, dark malt, bitter hops, and prunes, as well as burnt nuts. The body is medium full and the flavors are reminiscent of ales aged in bourbon barrels. The palate is malty, with suggestions of cocoa nibs and Demerara sugar and dried dates. The ABV provides warmth and sweetness. For me, the beer is sweeter and warmer (higher in alcohol) than the typical bock. Very delicious, but definitely not a session beer! I will be back for more!
