I think it's the first spring beer that I've really enjoyed, though it's not much of a classic.
Look: dark orange, rather opaque. Head vanished pretty quickly.
Smell: quite weak, bready/malty, some hops and grass or sour fruit.
Taste: malt-forward, rather sweet, but some fruity hops, a bit of grassy bitterness and a point of sourness. Very balanced and nice.
Feel: quite bodied without being too heavy. Perhaps a tad of oiliness but the finish is clean. Weak carbonation.
Overall: great balance of malt, fruit, and bitterness. Maybe not great, but definitely enjoyable.

The spring beer of Texels, but not a conventional maibock. Orange colour with a decent head of foam. Smell of yeast and citric hops. Smell seems a bit weak though. Taste also has sour fruits like green apple and lemon, together with flavours like grass and yeast. The alcohol is also present in every sip, which blocks flavour. The yeast strings give this beer an awesome mouth feel, very smooth. A fresh spring beer, but i would have rated it higher if the alcohol was more latent.

On tap at Cafe de Koningshut, Amsterdam.
Cloudy brown with steady white collar that has a rose tint.
Musty yeast and lemon floor polish nose.
Apple and brown sugar, earthy hit, and grass and cut hay hops.
Big lemon zest finish and bubble gum linger.
Lt-med, round, some cling.
Dark and thick for a spring bock; I could have said dunkel of some variety. (Not sure how many Dutch lentebocks I've had to compare.) No fizz, yeast is low, hops are bigger than I'd expect. A different take on spring beer.

Texels calls this a lentebock, so we're going with maibock. On-tap at Cafe Biljart in Alkmaar, on to the beer:
It's colored rub orange and topped with a creamy inch of head. Sticking with a theme, it leaves creamy lace around the glass as the beer's level drops. It has the smell of flowers and sugar coated citrus. A few more notes are found in the beer's taste compared its aroma. Starting the parade is lemongrass. Floral follows. Fruity, yeasty, and bready notes make cameo's. A nice enough overall flavor, which sometimes becomes a bit much. Its medium-full bodied and somewhat syrupy, yet somehow maintains a smooth textrue.
It's an acceptable spring beer. Given how cold and wet Alkmaar was, I may have picked an appropriate beer to warm up with.
