First impressions not great, as it fizzes up like a shaken bottle of champagne, and I didn't shake it.
Mega large bubbles in the carbonation. I like that it's obviously unpasteurized, though it has rather a reddish colour and doesn't look great. Lots of very large bubbles as opposed to smooth carbonation and foam. Aroma is nothing like an IPA or "India Pale" ale. I am detecting primarily strawberries. Yes strawberries. Totally not my idea of an inviting beer aroma.
Taste is much better than the aroma. There is some noticeable bitterness. A dry bitterness similar to Clusa IPA or Jupiler from Belgium. But I cannot get the red colour and strawberry aroma out of my senses. It's unique, and for me it doesn't work. Maybe the strawverryness is from the malt or the hops, I'm not sure ; )
A very heavy beer, I do like the bitterness, but it just doesn't taste like a beer, and especially not an IPA, or even an "India Pale Lager". Surely there must be some kind of flavourings in this? It reminds me of strawberry opal fruits or another strawberry sweet (candy if you are American, bonbon if you are French). It really is a strange beer in my opinion. I will finish it but avoid it again, for sure. Maybe girls would like this more, or children ; )
