Behold, our version of the ultra-modern elusive Black IPA. One of the first of its kind to be produced in the province. Rockbolter pours opaque black with a thick, tan head. Dark roasted malts impart notes of coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, and pumpernickel. These bold malt flavours are intensified by a heavy hand with Cascade and Mosaic hops, which give this strong brew an unexpectedly bright aroma of citrus and tropical fruit.

L- Pours an opaque black with ruby edges and a tan 1 finger head. Good retention and light sticky lacing.
S- A fairly even mix of roasty notes and earthy hops.
T- Likewise, roasty coffee and dark chocolate notes much more prominent than the hops.
F- Thick, soupy body. Very creamy and smooth on the palate. Carbonation is quite light.
O- Slowly getting into Black IPA's and I have to say that this one may be my favourite so far. I'm more of a Porter/Stout guy (if you couldn't tell by the username) and definitely enjoyed the fact that the roasted malt notes were much more prominent than the IPA elements. Two thumbs up from me!

Coal black with a moderate head and lacing. Roasted coffee malt nose with earthy hops. Medium body of more roasted coffee and dank hops. Good balance between smooth and crisp. An excellent Black IPA!

Opaque black color. Creamy and frothy light brown 4 finger head, lasting around 15-20 minutes, with strong legs and good swirl reaction. Flavors of dark grains, orange, passion fruit, coffee, light oysters, brown sugar, and herbal hops. Slick and oily light to medium body with a moderate crisp. Medium to strong strength finish, roasted with dark esters, moderately tropical and dry, lots of leafy and piney hops. More of a bitter tongue coating feel than a chocolate sugary one. I tend to enjoy less of those, but this one is really well balanced. The body is missing some texture though. The freshness is average, it's a rich robust black IPA, more filling and warming. Overall very good quality craft.
