16oz crowler from brewery. Inky black pour, thin, tight beige head. Roasted malt aroma, bitter, light coffee. Taste is simple and straightforward, dark, roasty malts, hint of sweetness. Bitterness lingers for quite some time.

a robustly flavored but also highly drinkable stout, they did a nice job with this and continue to get better and better, i have liked their recent beers quite a lot, its nice to see their progress! this is shiny obsidian black in the pint glass with just a short tan head on it, big bubbles and airy looking for the style. it smells deeply roasted but also with some neat nuance, raisin and maybe even blackberry fruitiness for a second, maybe something from the yeast, but this has a neat middle. some dark chocolate bitterness is also present, but nothing scorched or burnt on the gain side to me at all. the flavor is similar, a flash of curious fruity sweetness in the middle, then hints of black coffee, baking chocolate, and perhaps even a light licorice type spice, the warmer it gets the more i taste. it gets slightly hoppy as it sits, definitely more american later, but not overdone and certainly not offensive. light pine to it, nice with the dark roasted grain. smooth mouthfeel, not a ton of carbonation but i dont wish for more, relatively dry to finish although there is a little dark grainy linger. nice job with this one overall, good layering of flavor and fairly distinct for a straight up stout.

On-tap in Boise ID; served in a pint nonic. Appearance is standard stout, dark black with some ruby showing on the edges; minimal off-white head and lacing; moderate roast character shows some impressions of chocolate and faint peanut butter and licorice; smooth, creamy, and fairly bitter with a dusting of espresso bitterness and earthy hopping intertwined with dark malt/roast. This beer gets low scores on Untappd with complaints of elevated bitterness, but I thought it was just fine.
