On-tap in Meridian and served in a tumbler.

A: Surprisingly hazy dark golden with a light layer of creamy lace.

S: Hop resin and caramel malts; piney, weedy, somewhat tropical and sweet with some minor citrus. Muted.

T: Sticky pine sap and resin, mango and weed, honey malt and some lightly toasted caramel sweetness. Malty and bitter. Strong flavors overall after a fairly muted nose.

MF: Sticky mouthfeel, fuller bodied, lingering bitterness after a mouthful of heft malt presence.

O: Pretty enjoyable hop and malt assault.

16oz crowler from brewery. Light amber, some haze, small creamy head, solid lacing. Caramel malt aroma, piney, woody. Hops move forward in the taste, dry, sticky bitterness, piney, resiny. Sweet malts fade away, but bitterness lingers.

i never had the original disappointed dad they do, this is apparently a new iteration. slightly orange tinted and just a little hazy from the tap, frothy white headed, lots of bubbles, and a pungent hop aroma that reeks of freshness, dank weed, sweet orange, pine sap, and something a little more tropical, dried mango maybe, fruity and different, bold and appealing, and not overly malty when i get to drinking it either, although it has plenty of body. some honey sweetness through most of it to balance the hop intensity, its bright through too, never overly bitter or green, right up to the line but not over it. cool nuance as it warms too, canned pineapple, honeysuckle, peach, its dynamic and tasty, id love to know what hops they use in this. i do get a little alcohol peaking through late, especially at temperature, short of burning, but it warms the finish some, and slows me down a little bit, which is probably a good thing. lots of rushing carbonation which i like in a stronger ipa to keep it moving, pleasant hoppy aftertaste without a lot of bitterness to it, flush full body, smooth for the style, and overall very good imperial ipa. these guys keep getting better!
