Draft at brewery. Nearly black pour, thin brown head. Roasty aroma and taste, minor sweetness. Oatmeal brings a nice smooth, silky, slick consistency.

this should be so much better than it is, i had higher hopes. perhaps it was poured through an improperly cleaned line or something where i had it, but this almost tasted sort of minty, some weird behind the scenes nuance to this that i dont love, which is a shame because the foundation is there. i like how roasty this is, good and bitter and sturdy, earthy and wet with dark chocolate and charcoal character. i also like how much the oats contribute, its not just a texture thing here, its a flavor factor too, porridge and toast and grainy goodness, in addition to the luxurious smoothness. it doesnt hold much head in the glass, hints at milk chocolate sweetness in the nose, again a whiff of mint or something almost herbal that really shouldnt be there, and then a hint of cleaner or something too, this is close to being awesome but its held back by these things. still i love all the roast, the robust use of the oats, and the fact that i am finally drinking a new beer from these guys, seems like its always the same old stuff lately, so this was a welcome sight. hope its cleaned up the next time i try it, potential for greatness is here...
