fresh hop ipa with simcoe, very good, clean and simple beer, could just be like a base pale two row malt and these hops, its bright and very fresh, oily without being heavy, and with some cool fruity nuance that goes beyond the normal grapefruity side of this varietal to include things like ripe mango and apricot, sticky weed, and even orange marmalade, very pleasant, oddly summery and light for what it is, very well refined too in its simplicity, well done! just off clean, deep golden color, great carbonation and a creamy white head from the tap, active and delicate, pretty. the nose and taste do the same thing, a wet and well infused fresh hop profile that is inherently herbaceous and the good kind of green, with notes of verbena and honeysuckle setting up the real sexy part, the fruitiness, which leads with tangerine and grapefruit but moves to the mango thing pretty quick, there is a flash of supporting sweetness from the malt there in the center that works to accentuate this, and bitterness is restrained for an ipa, juicy and interesting but still essentially simcoe which is great, quality crop on full display without being a sledgehammer, which is a great place for this to be, almost pale ale, an all day drinker for me, max freshness, really good. lighter medium body, lively mouthfeel, some pleasant dankness, a great expression of this varietal and the season, one of the better beers ive ever had from these guys!
