New Zealand produces some of the finest hops in the world. Their growing region has a character unlike any other in the hop world and we are exceptionally smitten by it. Some of our favorite varieties to blend with come from the region, which is why we wanted to brew a beer that was aggressively hopped with some of our favy mcfavorites, and the results are sublime.
This years version is dry hopped with the holy New Zealand trifecta of Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, and Motueka all from Freestyle hops, which means that yes, it is the best version of this beer we have ever made. We taste heaven… but also gooseberry, lime, tropical fruit and dank berries. One of our favorite beers of the year.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with some dank/tropical notes and a semi-sweet finale. Taste is also a good mix of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with dank/tropical notes and a semi-sweet finish. Body is full for style with a creamy feel with good carbonation. Enjoyable NEIPA with a nice take on a NZ hops strain.

I finally got to Kiwi, but mostly because it was part of the order I couldn't discard. I am highly skeptical of New Zealand hops as I find most just too tart to have a full flavour. I think Riwaka is the only one I am okay with.
Well, this one has Riwaka but also two others, so I am prepared for lemon juice.
Kiwi does pour almost as thick as juice, but also quite pale and carbonated. The head is solid. The nose is red flagging tartness, as in white wine, gooseberry (I couldn't stand gooseberry even as a kid), but also has some gentle citrus, some distant hint of seeds, and...fried pork?!
Yep, it is tart alright. And really carbonated. But also not that great tasting overall. There is a pleasant enough slight smokey aftertaste but there was a reason I skipped this for years and it's all in here.
I hope you love it but this isn't for me.
