Degaussing is the process of reducing or eliminating an unwanted magnetic field (or data) stored on tape and disk media such as computer and laptop hard drives, diskettes, reels, cassettes etc.

It feels suitable to apply the same concept to brewing. We start with brew number one, which has in the history of brewing never gone well for anyone, and over time we slowly remove, refine and eliminate the pieces we no longer want to have perceived in our beer.

This is a game of inches. A test of patience, experimentation, detailed note taking and honest, even harsh, self assessment. An endless pursuit to no known destination.

This is one of our most refined beers. Dry hopped with Citra and Nelson from Freestyle hops, we taste ripe papaya, dank gooseberry.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a medium white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones and some light spicy hops notes and with a semi-dry finale. Taste is also a good mix of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones notes, some spicy hops notes and a semi-dry finale. Body is full for style with good carbonation. Enjoyable NEIPA with nice floral hops notes.

Pours pale-ish orange with a good size head that quite quickly dissipates. The nose is very citrusy and white wine-ish. Let me check...yes, Nelson Sauvin is indicated on the can. Sadly.
The taste has some papaya among all the citrus but the beer is quite carbonated and relatively tart (Nelson....), so that intrudes on the flavours. Slightly oily finish.
Not bad, but adding Nelson to Citra will create unnecessary tartness and here we have it.
Of course this is Badlands, so it's still decent, just not quite up there.

Pale orange with oh so enticing thick, pillowy head. I can smell ripe papaya with dank and sweet citrus. All this comes through in the taste. A little slick on the tongue with some hop dryness on the finish. This is a nice, layered beer. Smooth with nuanced citrus and hop character. I do like that wonky Nelson Sauvin flavor. Here it plays a supportive role with pleasing dankness that works well to compliment the sweet, citrus notes. I enjoyed savoring this flavorful beer.

Badlands. Citra and Nelson Sauvin. Did you think there was any chance this wasn't going to be good? I mean, really, Beeradvocate, you don't need all these goddamn words to describe a beer.
