This past fall we had the great pleasure of being able to travel to Yakima and select hops. Hops are, to put it mildly, extremely important to the production of hoppy beer, and it’s no secret we produce quite a lot of hoppy beer, making hops all the more important to us and our brewery.
This year we selected for the varietal Citra, otherwise known as the GOAT (not actually, but let’s be honest, this hop basically made IPA what it is today) and it was a lovely variety to select for. It actually took us as long to select for Citra as all the other hops combined. We went back and forth on this one but ultimately landed on a lot that we were all very jazzed about.
We’re thrilled to be able to share our selection of Citra with you. It’s tasting extremely tropical in the most delightfully pungent way.

The last of the #selects I am trying out from Badlands.
Pours so pale that it looks frightened. There, there, Citra, there, there.
The nose is, ahem, citrusy, but not very strong. The taste is muted, obviously tropical fruit, slight wood, and a bit tart, but in the end, nice. I had Citra presented better before, but this is still decent.

A light lemon and easy on the palate that even non hoppy fans liked a sample of. Can From the source, the first and one of the best from the select hop feature series.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
