A beer brewed to celebrate our fifth anniversary.

Five years feels like a lifetime. Every year we have some version of “thank you” that we gradually add more adjectives to to convey our undying gratitude; and I’ll be honest, we’re running out of synonyms to use! So five anniversaries later, we’ll keep it classic and clean. THANK YOU! We’ll never fully be able to express our gratitude in words what it means to us that as a result of you buying our beer, we can do this (I.e. own and operate a brewery) for a living. It’s wild. It’s amazing. Thank you. We love you. We are nothing without you.

For year #5, we decided to brew an IPA to our go-to ABV of 6.5%, then hopped it with some of our favs: Riwaka, Nectaron, and Citra. Intensely tropical, we taste crushed mango, deep dank pineapple and tangerine.

473 ml can from Durand. Canned August 31, 2022. Served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - Yellowy, chalky straw colored beer with tremendous turbidity. Two fingers of egg shell white head and a large swath of lacing.

Smell - Floral mostly, some peach and hints of spices, grape and apple skins maybe. Some elements of citrus in the background. Fairly intense aromatics.

Taste - Some citrus, peaches an cream, little elements of orange and guava. Apple skins in the background muddled in with the malt.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation, nearly creamy, almost like a lactose infused milkshake IPA. Body is fairly full and juicy enough.

Overall - Like it a lot, but don't love it, the citrus and stonefruit elements are nice, but the "creamy" qualities are a bit too much even for the style. Worth a tipple but have enjoyed others more from Badlands.

Badlands' 5th anniversary beer (not a collab, mercifully) pours yellow, with a sturdy head, though even this one turns to a ring. Thenose is of apricot seed, honey, white grapes and some floral elements. The taste is nice...citrus notes mixing with papaya, but there is a slight, unnecessary tartness. Bit of carbonation burn, too. Decent, but the tartness does eat away from the quality.
