Time is fleeting. Spend it with the ones you love doing the things you love.

Hopped with Citra, Mosaic and one of the loveliest lots of Nelson Sauvin we’ve ever had the chance of using from our friends at Freestyle Hops.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy pale yellow color ale with a medium white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones and some light tropical/mango hoppy notes. Taste is also a good mix of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones notes, some nice tropical/mango notes and a semi-dry finale. Body is full for style with creamy texture and with good carbonation. Nice NEIPA with nice mango undertones.

The pale pour gives way to a nose that has gentle citrus but mostly wood tones. This translates to the body as well, but it's all somewhat muted. So..a good base but it is ever so slightly dull. Still. Good beer.

Review from notes. Durand purchase. Served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - Super duper hazy golden straw color with a finger and a half of head. Excellent retention.

Smell - A touch of pineapple with some grapes, wood and a delicate balance.

Taste - Matches the nose with grapes, pineapple a touch of wood and general lively fruitiness.

Mouthfeel - Very smooth, juicy and crushable. A delight to drink.

Overall - Top notch

A number of Badlands would be blind tasted and more of less good but the same likeability.this one being sweet and fruity hops. Very drinkable. Can from the source.

Served in a Third Moon pint glass. Can dated 14/SEP/2022.

L - Quintessential NEIPA look - hazy pale golden straw body, with eggshell foam that lingers and coast the glass as it recedes with oodles of sticky lacing.

S - This IPA uses Freestyle Hops from NZ and the quality shows. This is that peak Nelson Sauvin aroma from 2009 Alpine mixed with dank Mosaic and a touch of Citra lemon peel. Big white grape, gooseberry, and grass aroma. Great balance, with a subtle crackery malt backbone.

T - Taste is a bit dialed down from the aroma, with more sugar cookie malt and a pinch of bitterness in the finish. Still quite good, but not as punchy.

F - Probably the weakest element of the beer. It's a bit watery, with soft carbonation, and a clean finish. Seems a bit more limp than the usual Badlands body.

O - It's nice to remember why I fell in love with these hops; it seems like a lot of them suffered as production scaled, but Freestyle made some dank and potent Nelson. Crushable stuff, and one of my favorite Badlands NEIPAs in recent memory.
