Firefly is our brightest, and most multi-faceted single hop expression of a classic New Zealand hop variety: Motueka.
One of our favorite things about Motueka from Freestyle hops is that it not only imparts incredible flavor and aroma in our beer, but it also imparts a gorgeous soft and full mouthfeel that amplifies our already plush base beer; which is why we felt compelled to give this hop the solo treatment in its own beer!
Hopped aggressively and exclusively with Motueka, we taste a layered and lovely lemon/lime note complimented by tropical fruit.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with some tropical notes and a semi-dry finale. Taste is also a good mix of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with tropical notes and a semi-dry finish. Body is full for style with a creamy feel with good carbonation. Enjoyable NEIPA with a nice hoppy tropical twist and juicy hops

A Nicely hopped beer that has substantive sweet backing. A beer tasting crowd pleaser, a palate cleanser. Very drinkable and nicely balanced execution.

473 ml can served cold into a chalice. Durand purchase. No canning date.
Appearance - Incredibly white gold and hazy. Huge two plus fingers of eggshell white head. Great staying power and a true swath of lacing sticks behind on the glass.
Smell - Grassy with lemon and lime aromas. Some other muddled citrus but lemon/lime dominate.
Taste - Quite sweet initially, almost like frosting sugar. Some citrus comes in to play, a little lemon and lime as well. Possible some peach combo in there too. A little bit of weediness and hop oils at the end.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, very soft carbonation and pillowy texture. Easy to drink.
Overall - Is this an IPA? It is but when you come across a beer like this... it seems to be a looser and looser definition. There are elements here, but with the frosting sugar taste, lack of citrus and bitterness, it gets harder to say. Nonetheless Firefly is a very tasty treat.
