A collaboration beer with our friends from Mortalis Brewing for our Sixth anniversary.
For this recipe we decided to take inspiration from their delectable DIPA series featuring Greek Gods. The name is derived from Athena's most common epithet, Glaukopis, which symbolizes her role as a bright-eyed owl Goddess.
We built a beer on their typical DIPA malt base and then hopped it with Nelson, Riwaka and Talus. It is a rich bounty of tropical notes, mixed with citrus, bright grapefruit and dank gooseberry. A DIPA fit for a God/Goddess.

Canned 8/16/23. “The owl goddess” stamped on the bottom of the can
This is the third and final LIF beer Coronaeus sent me from Badlands. I’ve been enjoying all their beers quite a bit so far, and I’m even more excited for this one since it’s a collaboration with Mortalis. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours a hazy yellow gold with 3 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is sweet and tropical but there’s a nice gentle bitterness keeping it in check. I’m picking up on aromas of papaya, peach rings, bready malt, overripe mango, orange juice, earthy hops, light weed, and cantaloupe
It loses a bit of charm in taste by being a bit less expressive, but it’s still great. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange zest, papaya, peach rings, bready malt, grassy hops, white pepper, and light cantaloupe. The swallow brings notes of peach rings, papaya, bready malt, earthy hops, overripe cantaloupe, dank weed, orange juice, and light grass
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes mostly dry with a firm bitterness
Yet another banger from Badlands unsurprisingly. I need to seek out more from them
