Traditionally speaking, an imp is a small, mischievous devil or sprite.
However, in the beer world, imp is also short for Imperial Stout. If you don’t know, now you know! You’re welcome.
The Imp is a blend of our 3 different, core streams of our base imperial stout that has only been aged in stainless (no wood barrels). The three streams were aged for 8, 6 and 5 months in stainless.
It is a big viscous beauty that is rich in chocolate, toffee, caramel, and roasty coffee notes.

This one pours dark as night....darker, if you pour it in the city with all the lights. A dark caramel head is there and then gone just like that.
The nose is all chocolate and malt.
Stouts without the bourbon barrel aging are not my style, but this is actually not that bad. Soft feel and while the initial taste is very bitter, the aftertaste smooths things out. Chocolate dominates with light coffee and malt. Don't really notice anything else.
Again, not what I like to drink, but in the style, this is okay.
