March 27, 2021 batch. Dark brown color with no light passing. The one-finger head is dark tan. It fades to rim bubbles quickly. No lacing.
Dark chocolatey malt with a strong, sweet toffee kick. Light chalk and a bit boozy. Almost imperceptible darker cherry smells in the background.
The taste starts of mild with lighter chocolate/powdered cocoa notes. The swallow draws forward some burnt patent malt and some warming alcohol. The toffee is now burnt but there is a modicum of maple syrup sweetness in the finish. Moderate body with a lower carbonation level. Overall, the complexity of this beer makes it appealing.
