Clear amber brew with adequate foam in the Kasteel chalice. Tangy and spritzy on the tongue. This has an interesting and different mix of fruit flavors, very light citrus without the pith. Hints of pineapple and plum. Moderate bitterness along with a winey aftertaste. Even a hint of coconut in the nose.
This is brewed with Mackinac hops, a new one to me. Very aromatic and agreeable and I would look for it again. Very strong for a Pale Ale, so think of it as a highly drinkable IPA. From the 16 oz can purchased at Johns Market.

an excellent pale ale here, among the best of all the beers we drank in this neat brewery, very refined, simple and clean, at a higher overall quality level than a lot of their other stuff, impressive and awesome with the delicious food in here, across the board really, we all dug this. its not quite clear but more of an unfiltered look than like its trying to be a hazy, average white head on it but very bright looking. the nose is unique on the hop side, not sure what varietal is leading the way here, but its got elements of noble hops with a green grassy freshness but also a floral thing like jasmine and chamomile, moderate bitterness apparent too, very fresh. the flavor follows the nose, a very basic grain bill it seems, pale barley on the lighter side, fermented clean and dry, its all about the hops, which continue to bring floral notes without being over the top, some light citrus through it as well, and bitter enough to make the finish snappy. its a unique hop profile here and i like it a lot, simple but professional beer, a modern and even memorable pale ale here. its good enough to make me question how some of the other beers we had here could be so lackluster and sort of amateurish, but this one is fantastic! real well done.
