Our flagship IPA is an oats-heavy Citra hops tour de force. An exercise in excess with copious amounts of Citra - and Citra hops only - both on the hot side and the dry hop additions and then fermented with an English yeast strain for extra fruitiness. Ready your face hole for a magnum opus of citrus, grapefruit, lime and assorted tropical fruits.

Copenhagen 26/5 2020. 44 cl can from Mikkeller Web-shop. Apex's usual symmetric design in light green and with a bat balancing on top of the logo.
Pours hazy, milky yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is intense with a medium strong fruity sweetness and citric notes. Sweet mango and peach. Grape fruit, orange and citrus.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, smooth, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate citric bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a light citric undercureent. Finish is semi-dry.
Smooth and pleasant with an intense and citric nose. But a tad too sweet in the flavor for my taste buds.

Pours a hazy, bright orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit, orange and mango, as well as some ligthly dank accents. Taste is a great balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly dank and grassy hops, with citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit, orange, mango and papaya, as well as just a hint of grassy weed. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some grapefruit and mango lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a very nice single-hopped Citra NEIPA that shows off the signature flavor profile of the hop variety nicely, with some vibrant and well-defined zesty citrus and sweet tropical notes, as well as hints of grassy and dank accents, finishing with a good bitterness and mouthfeel. I don't love everything from APex, but their signature NEIPA certainly makes for a very enjoyable example of the style.

Pours a hazy pale yellow, with low, fine foam.
Smell is juicy and citrusy, with notes of pineapple and lemon peel.
Taste is juicy and tropical. Pineapple and mango lead the way with the citrus taking a back seat. Bitterness and hop bite is just right, and the balance is impeccable.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.
Overall, another tiny Swedish brewery who are zeroing in on this NE trend. Great stuff!
