If a double dry-hopped modern hazy IPA with bright notes of papaya, mango, sweet citrus with an almost lemon curd-like aroma is what the doctor ordered - the 8:44 IPA might be exactly what you are looking for. Brewed with a trusted grist of Maris Otter Extra Pale and lots of oats (for enhanced mouthfeel and thickness) this IPA was hopped with Mosaic on the hot side and then dry-hopped extensively with Simcoe and Cashmere.
Malts: Maris Otter Extra Pale, Naked Oats, Torrefied Oats & Flaked Wheat
Hops: Cashmere, Simcoe & Mosaic
Yeast: WLP066 London Fog

Copenhagen 16/6 2021. 44 cl can from Best of Beers web-shop. Turquoise can in Apex’s usual design this time with a sheep as poster animal.
Pours opaque hazy pale yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin, almost transparent layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Not much lacing to speak of.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet fruity odor mingling with lightly acerbic citric notes. Peach and blood orange. Hints of honey melon. Lime and citrus.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, watery, tingling texture.
Flavor fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Refreshing and well-balanced with enough bitter bite to make it interesting.

Pours a hazy, pale orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of tangerine and papaya. Taste is a good balance of biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly floral and grassy hops, with citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit, tangerine, papaya and mango. Finishes with a light bitterness and some grapefruit and papaya lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While this makes for a nice and perfectly enjoyable New England IPA, the flavor profile isn't really for me, being a bit too sweet, floral and grassy for my personal taste, while I had also expected a bit more pine resin from the hop combination here. It also just a feels a bit weak to me in all aspects of coloration, hoppiness and mouthfeel, with the mouthfeel being particularly disappointing for the style. I do like those quite zesty citrus notes though, which are backed up nicely by some sweeter and slightly acidic tropical notes. Overall, this makes for a nice NEIPA with some quite zesty citrus and lighter tropical notes, that feels a bit weak overall though.
