This was the second brew that I ordered off of the Tavour app as I never had anything from HopFly before, let alone heard of them. When this came up on there, this looked interesting and as it turned out, this was a fine Imperial IPA that was full-bodied, full-flavored, and easy to drink for it's style as their mantra of brewing great beer was apparent with this offering.
Enjoyed the marmalade hue to this as there was just a bit of dark sediment that floated in the liquid. Enough head topped this off although the lacing left behind was concentrated along the bottom half of my pint glass a thick ring of suds served as a dividing line between the paucity above it and the leopard-like pattern of lace left below it. Lots of fruit cocktail, dank berry, deep pine, and turbid hops in the nose as the taste was quite heavy. Deep swamp water, pine forest, candied sugar, dank melon, and subtle Starburst gave this an mouthfeel that was contradictory as it was initially off-putting but drew me in as this warmed up.
The creamy body, pleasing balance, and perfectly appealing carbonation ensured that this beer would not last in my glass long. No date was to be found anywhere the can although Instagram had this being released sometime in late May. Thankfully, this held up well over the last two and half months as the liquid was on par with the artistic label. Quite the first impression from HopFly, as the aftertaste had plenty of white chocolate and stone fruit to leave me wanting more. With so much to like, how could anybody turn this down?
