Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a New Belgium globe glass
The beer pours a deep amber color with a big fluffy off white head. The head recedes slowly leaving behind a decent amount of lacing.
The aroma is very nice, though not quite as bold as I would have liked. Toffee, brown sugar, and caramel are complimented by citrusy hops.
The flavor is bigger on hops than the aroma; Citrusy with just a bit of pineapple, and a nice underlying piney bitterness. Like the nose, the sweet caramel, toffee, earthy, and brown sugar flavors provide a nice balance to the hops. Medium bodied and moderately carbonated. The beer finishes slightly bitter.
Overall, this is a nice beer, not my favorite example of the style, but still very good, and at the price point you can't hardly beat it.
