Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla and light milk chocolate, pleasant. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, cinnamon and bakers chocolate. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. This looks nice and has a great aroma, but the flavor is a bit thin. There is some pleasant chocolate, but the combination of bitter chocolate, cinnamon and a bit of the acidity that vanilla can have when too concentrated leave an astringency in the finish. Horchata flavors fit nicely with stouts and the ingredients are all here, but it needs to be dialed in a bit. Could use a bigger malt depth. Satisfactory but needs some tuning.
