Pours an opaque black body beneath a creamy head of khaki that holds well and leaves some very nice rings of lace about the glass. The nose is fruity and a touch hoppy (leafy, grassy) with some dark and lightly roasty chocolate in the background. It's smooth and light in the mouth with a medium-light body and moderate carbonation. The flavor delivers a well-balanced combination of yeasty, berry-like fruitiness; caramel; and bittersweet chocolate with an undercurrent of roasty coffee. It finishes with a dollop of caramel upfront, followed by some dull roastiness and a lingering bitterness. Overall it's a nicely balanced, drinkable beer.
