Look: Pours a tawny shade of mahogany with a one finger head of beige foam and below average head retention and lacing.
Aroma: Maple syrup and slightly burnt bread on the nose as well as hints of molasses.
Taste: Almost scotch ale like. . . Upfront there are notes of semi-sweet dark chocolate and bitter toasted bread. It goes savory midpalate with flavors of muscovado sugar and tamarind - maybe even some butterscotch candy. Flavors of peanut butter and pecan, before going slightly dry again with more notes of bittersweet toffee.
Feel: Not the most sessionable beer in the world. 8% alcohol profile is apparent. Leaves a dry sensation on the palate. Medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall: Good beer but I'm not sure if I would ever buy it again unless I was really in the mood for something boozy, but I could see the appeal in this. Would still highly recommend though if you can find it fresh, interesting flavors here.

A: The beer is hazy dark brown in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down but never faded away.
S: Light aromas of squash and Muscavado sugar are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and and has some sweetness from the Muscavado sugar.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an interesting take on a dubbel; the combination of butternut squash and Muscavado sugar are reminiscent of dark fruits.
Serving type: can
