500ml bottle from The Beer Seller, Oban (£3.80):
Copper amber with a thin, soapy white surface lacing. Clean nose, earthy hops, biscuit & some butterscotch sweetness. It's more bitter tasting, earthy hops & more butterscotch/vanilla too then nutty towards the end with a creamy mouthfeel.

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to English IPAs (or Scottish IPA, which is what my bartender called it). This is only my second but it's the better of the two. Its smell and taste are basically a caramel red ale, with a hoppy bite to it. The caramel is strong, and it's a bit sweet. There are lots of hops.
