Drinking a bomber of it. Dark brown, reddish hues, almost non existent head and lacing. Smell initially was pure bourbon. Mellows nicely, plenty of malt, brown sugar, and molasses to accompany the booze and barrel scents. Taste is what I want from the style-malty, sweet, and boozy. Medium bodied, not as boozy as the smell would lead me to expect, smooth. As somebody who has been involved with this brewery from the beginning, I’ve hoped for great things from them, and I honestly can say two things: 1) so far, they haven’t delivered as much great stuff as I have hoped for, and 2) This is easily the best thing I’ve had from them so far. A damn good example of one of my favorite styles.

Had this on tap at Oswego Brewing. This is an English Barleywine that was aged Whiskey Acres bourbon barrels. It had a very nice reddish look to it. The smell was malty and not as boozy as you would think. The taste was malty but lacked any type of fruity/sweetness flavor to balance it out. Still it hide the alcohol well.
