Clear dark amber pour, steady khaki head. Nose is roasted grain.
Taste shows mild toffee, medium kilned malt, chewy dark bread, currants, floral notes. Mouthfeel leans medium. Finish is malty and smooth.

12 oz can, purchased in Dallas. Pour is quite dark, even held up to the light, with a half cm head. Aroma is overwhelmingly caramel malt. Taste gives some darker malt, maybe some black patent? that offsets the sweetness of the caramel. Hop bitterness is present as well. Finish is dry. Pleasant creamy.
Drinkable enough, I guess. This is one of those very vague styles where anything fits. But there's little to distinguish this from most generic dark beers.

I had this on tap at the brewery in Waco, TX.
This would make a decent amber ale, but is not very representative of the stated style. The yeast character is muted and it seems more like an amber lager. Very drinkable, but lacking in malt notes and even the light roastiness I'd expect for the style.
