a really nice beer, one of my favorites i had in here. they call it a belgian stout but i am not so sure, i dont get a ton of belgian yeast here, but maybe my palate is numb to it being more subtle here after the massively assertive profile it has in their farmhouse ipa. it doesnt matter though, the coffee in here is awesome, the malt is rich and decadent, and there perhaps is some sort of dark candy addition, that could be the belgian element in place of the yeast, my brain tracks more and more with this as the beer warms up. faint smoke, molasses, raisin, elite level espresso and accompanying crema, dark chocolate and wet soil, earthy and grounded but also elevated by this divine coffee in here, a hugely coffee forward nose and taste. not much acidity from it at all, some middle sweetness, and a nice roasted bitter complexion at the end, sturdy but smooth, nothing forced at all, complex in a cool way, maybe some really mellow belgian yeast at the end, warming and wintery and drinkable for what it is. i really liked this one a lot. they apparently add some cocoa nibs in here too, which seems to serve as the unifier between the coffee and the grain. expert stuff here!
