Pours a medium brown with mahogany highlights, a half inch tan head that left a few spots of lacing. Smells of coffe, caramel, chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Tastes of medium roast coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, sweet malts, heavy cream, figs and alcohol. A bit on the sweet side overall. Met bodied, soft carbonation, very smooth mouth feel.

16 oz can
Smells of dark chocolate and fresh roasted coffee.
Flavor is very rich, maple and molasses followed by dark chocolate, fresh coffee, cream, cinnamon, vanilla and a bit of honey.
Medium to full body, tingly carbonation on the tongue.
Very flavorful strong ale, the normally rich character of a British barleywine is balanced by the relative bitterness of dark chocolate and coffee. The vanilla and lactose rounds out a tasty and memorable beer that is rich but not overly sweet. Definitely worth a try and I would have this again.

Poured from can. Going into this, I am not the biggest American barleywine fan. I'm all about the caramel, etc of the English style. This was probably the best ABW I've ever had. Not very hoppy. Very sweet on the tongue with some caramel notes. Nice blend of hops and caramel. This was almost an ABW/EBW hybrid. Very nice barrel notes. Great job
