Canned 07/23/19.
Pours with a nice motor oil viscosity; nearly black in color, with small amounts of off-white head that rise and quickly fall back into the body of the beer. A uniform ring sits comfortably after a few minutes.
After a few moments, there is a rich, chocolate aroma that resembles a ganache, with undertones of espresso. The vanilla is fairly mild, but all together the nose reminded me of an affogato.
The palate doesn't seem to have done better with time. A bit of tinniness and an overly roasted malt quality immediately strike. There's a bit of dark chocolate on the back end, however the vanilla seems to have faded entirely aside from a touch of pastry sweetness on the tail. I will say that it does continue to drink better as it warms.
Drinks fairly soft, and although it has a decent weight to it, the carbonation hits a little too high. There's a boozy warmth on the tail, and finishes with a touch of malt bitterness. Not a bad mouthfeel, but that carbonation level was a little distracting.

Pours black with a quarter inch medium brown head that fades to a ring and leaves almost no lacing. Smells of roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla and a touch of coffee. Tastes of dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, a hint of char and smoke. On the light side of full bodied, light carbonation, very mild bitterness, soft mouth feel.
