16 ounce can - $3.25 at Woodstock Beer Market in Woodstock, Georgia.
10/31/25.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body topped with an inch of short-lived yellow-beige foam.
Smell: Dark malts, restrained roastiness with cocoa, a slight earthiness, toasted nuts and a bit of fruitiness.
Taste: Roast-tinged dark malts, chocolate powder, a little Tootsie Roll action going on and tang of fruitiness. A nutty, earthy quality midway amongst the subtle bitterness. A little bit of grainy astringency showing on the otherwise lightly sweetish finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Passable.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short white head that quickly dissipated.
S: Light to moderate aromas of chocolate malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a light amount of bitterness along with slight hints of roasted malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No smoothness is perceptible.
O: This oatmeal stout doesn't have any smoothness in the mouthfeel that you normally would expect from beers in this style.

Not bad. I love stouts, this one is ok...and different. Most notable, it is the hoppiest stout I have ever had.

big thanks to my buddy back east for sending this out, i have not had nearly enough beer from these guys. this is a cool stout, simple in a lot of ways, but full of nuance. part of me feels like its only so low alcohol because its not totally fermented down, like there is an almost unfinished sweetness to this, like more time in the fermented would have been useful, but also probably yielded like a 6% abv beer. that said, i like whats happening here, i can taste and feel the oats, and there is an appreciable lighter chocolate sort of middle malt range happening, not all roast and low end, more depth this way, and there is definitely a little something english to the yeast profile, bready and old worldy and its real unifying in here. raisin and leather and chocolate notes as it warms, quite a lot of brown sugar type sweetness, but also some earthy cereal character to balance, in addition to the roast. a little lighter on the bitterness than many of these, but i like that. almost more brown than black to look at too, fizzy heady of lighter brown that settles back quick, but plenty of bubbles as i sip on it. delicious beer, if a little less refined than it maybe could be, i dont hate the sweetness on it though, and overall this was a treat to drink. unpretentious and distinctive.
